Thou
Shall Not Waste
In John chapter 6, we read about Jesus multiplying the five loaves and two fish to feed thousands. There is a powerful message in this chapter. In verse 12, Jesus commands his disciples to gather the left over pieces of loaves. In fact, Jesus is teaching us a lesson not to waste food. Estimates
indicate that someone dies of hunger approximately every 10
seconds. Each year millions of children starve to death. If
someone has three meals a day, it is considered a luxury for millions
in this world. When
parents throw excess food, they are throwing away precious
hard-earned money. Think about the millions of children who cannot eat
one meal a day. That food that gets thrown away would be considered
delicacies to those hungry people. When
you dine at a restaurant, order just enough and if there happens to be
any leftover food, parcel it and take the food home. There is nothing
to feel shy about, I am sure the disciples would have felt shy while
picking up the leftover food. |
